Box Score Wiliamsville, N.Y. – The tennis team earned its second East Coast Conference victory tonight, 4-3 over the Wildcats of Daemen College, at the Miller Tennis Center. Molloy improved to 2-4 in league play with the victory.
How it Happened
- Daemen did not have enough players to field a doubles team, meaning Molloy would only need one doubles victory to clinch the point.
- The tandem of juniors Samantha Bloecker and Montaine Le Goupil-Maier shutout their opponents at second doubles, 6-0, for the victory.
- In singles competition, graduate student Katie Alexanderson picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory in fourth singles while Bloecker also won her singles contest, 6-0, 6-0.
- The Wildcats forfeited sixth singles, giving Molloy its fourth and clinching point.
Headed into the final contest of the regular season, the maroon and white have put out their best league performance since the 2012 season, where the team went 3-4. A victory tomorrow will allow Molloy to clinch the final ECC playoff spot for the first time since the 2010 season.
The Lions will take on Roberts Wesleyan College at 6:00 p.m. in Rochester, N.Y.
