Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. (Sept. 29, 2017) – The women's tennis team stepped out of conference and traveled to Jefferson this afternoon. Despite three different games being decided by tiebreakers, the Lions fell 9-0.
In doubles play, the first and second doubles each fell, 5-8, before the tandem of sophomore
Samantha Bloecker (Oceanside, N.Y.) and senior
Christie Catterson (Amityville, N.Y.) forced a tiebreaker to determine the game. The pair ultimately fell, 7-9 following a 4-7 tiebreaker.
In singles play, sophomore
Montaine Le Goupil-Maier (Oceanside, N.Y.) dropped her first set, 2-6, before rallying to a 6-2 victory in the second set to force a tiebreaker. Ultimately, Le Goupil-Maier fell, 9-11. Bloecker also forced a tiebreaker to decide her singles contest, falling 6-2, 4-6 (0-10). In Catterson's single contest, the senior's first set was decided by a 5-7 tiebreaker, ultimately falling 6-7, 2-6.
Tennis returns to action tomorrow (Sept. 30) at 11:00 a.m. against St. Thomas Aquinas College at Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis. Prior to the contest, Catterson and graduate student
Amanda Gaimaro (Lynbrook, N.Y.) will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.
