Women's Basketball at Queens College - 5:30 p.m.
The women's basketball team (17-4) heads into a highly anticipated matchup tonight against No. 21 Queens College, currently first in the East Coast Conference. The Lions, currently slated second in the conference, will be looking to match a program-record 10 straight wins with a victory over the Knights. Their last game (Jan. 28), a clash with Roberts Wesleyan College, saw the Lions come out victorious by a score of 73-62. It was a sweet victory for the maroon and white as they avenged their loss to the Redhawks back on December 10.
Led by graduate student
Kamala Thompson (Selden, N.Y.) who secured a double-double with a game-high 30 points and 16 rebounds, Molloy moved to 9-2 in ECC play this season with the victory. Also contributing to the win was graduate student
Jessica Kalbfleisch (Ridge, N.Y.) with a near double-double of her own scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds on the night.
In their first meeting between the teams, the Lions walked away with an 88-78 victory over the Knights, giving them some momentum heading into tonight's clash between the top two teams in the ECC.Â
Men's Basketball at Queens College - 7:30 p.m.
The Lions (11-9) look to build on their 77-64 win over Robert Wesleyan College this past Saturday. Senior guard
Jaylen Morris (Amherst, N.Y.) exploded for a season-high 30 points while also grabbing eight boards. Another key player in the victory was sophomore
Curtis Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.), performing well on both sides of the court with a stat line of 15 points, six rebounds, one steal and one block. Molloy held the lead for most of the game but the Redhawks proved to be a threat multiple times in the second half, before the Lions ultimately pulled away.
The last meeting between Molloy and Queens College (Dec. 7) was a nail biter that saw the score tied 11 separate times. Ultimately, the Lions came away with the victory 85-82 on a game-high 20 points from Morris and a double-double from Jenkins.
