Seven Alumni Recognized as Molloy's "30 Under 30"

The Molloy University Office of Alumni Relations celebrated the annual 30 Under 30 award recipients this evening at the Hayes Theater on the Rockville Centre, N.Y. campus. The list featured seven from the Molloy Department of Athletics: Grace Crockett (Class of 2019; women's track and field), Kieran Hall (Class of 2018; men's soccer), Matteo Itri (Class of 2022; men's cross country/track and field), Tonianne Larson (Class of 2021; softball), Michael Paone (Class of 2019, 2020; men's rugby), Megan Scali (Class of 2019; women's tennis), and Jenna Turato (Class of 2019, 2020; softball).
 
 
Grace Crockett
Bachelor of Science, Nursing
Crockett was a four-year member of the women's track and field team, competing as a sprinter and hurdler. While a member of the athletic department, she was an indispensable part of Student Government and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Graduating in 2019, Crockett now works as nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Inpatient Pediatric Unit. She is currently in her second year as a DNP candidate at Johns Hopkins University and is conducting a study on handwashing soaps and their influence on residual bacterial load as part of a Nursing Research Fellowship. Crockett remains an active member of the Molloy University Alumni Association and is also active in the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honors Society, the New York Organization for Nurse Leaders, and the Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Nurses. Sticking to her athletic background, she ran in the New York City Marathon as part of MKSCC's Fred's Team in 2021.
 
Kieran Hall
Bachelor of Science, Accounting
Hall was a member of the 2017 men's soccer team, but was ultimately held to just one season due to an injury.
Graduating in 2018, Hall then attended the Maurice A. Dean School of Law at Hofstra University, earning his Juris Doctor and receiving the Honorable David A. Paterson Graduation Award in Public Service and the Criminal Law Courses Award. He currently works as the Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
 
Matteo Itri
Bachelor and Master of Science, Adolescent Education – Social Studies, Special Education
Itri was a four-year member of the cross country and track and field programs, competing in middle distance and distance races and serving as team captain in his final two seasons. Itri was the recipient of the 2021 ECC (Excellence in Community and Character) Award, the most prestigious award given by the East Coast Conference. The award is given to student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through actions and behaviors that are consistent with the Division II pillars of learning, service, passion, sportsmanship, balance, and resourcefulness.
Graduating in 2022, Itri began working at Wantagh High School and has since obtained a tenure track position as a special education teacher and currently teaches ninth grade global studies. He vouches the varsity cross country team, leads the Key Club, and is a Behavior Intervention Parent Trainer.
 
Tonianne Larson
Bachelor of Science, Speech-Language Pathology
Larson was a four-year member of the softball team, primarily found in the pitcher's circle. She amassed a 2.94 ERA through 67 appearances, pitching 200 innings and striking out 120 batters. Along the way, she collected four hits, drove in three runs, and stole one base offensively.
Graduating in 2021, Larson decided to continue her education by earning a Master of Arts in Audiology. She is currently in his third year of a doctoral program in audiology at the University of Pittsburgh. Larson also is a member of the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program where she provides free audiological services to underserved populations of Pittsburgh.
 
Michael Paone
Bachelor of Science, Finance; Master of Science, MBA, Accounting
Paone was a member of the men's rugby club program. The program was taken under the Department of Athletics for his senior season in 2018.
After graduating with his MBA, Paone currently works as a Senior Associate within the Audit Practice at KPMG. In his role, he was worked with the retail and consumer goods, technology, industrial manufacturing industries. He has also served as the Long Island office's K-Class Co-Chair for Community Impact. He has been able to work with his alma mater in starting a Business Clothing Drive in collaboration with the Molloy Career Center and KPMG to collect new and lightly worn clothing for students in need for interviews.
 
Megan Scali
Bachelor of Science, Nursing
Scali was a four-year member of the Molloy women's tennis team and, like Crockett, was heavily involved in department activities such as SAAC.
Graduating in 2019, she works as a nurse manager on a surgical telemetry/stepdown unit at NYU Langone – Long Island. Since taking the position, Scali has implemented a journal club to provide staff with the latest literature regarding surgical and trauma practices, has developed a new orientation process for float pool nurses, created a QR code system for patients and their families to directly acknowledge their nurses, and co-directed a hospital-wide leadership development program for nurse leaders. Most recently, she received the Nurse of Excellence award on the NYU Langone Long Island campus.
Scali has recently decided to continue her education and is currently pursuing a dual degree program at Molloy to earn her Masters of Business Administration and Master of Science in Nursing.
 
Jenna Turato
Bachelor of Science, Accounting; Master of Business Administration, Accounting
Turato was a four-year member of the softball team, earning All-Conference First and Second Team selections. In her career in the circle, Turato tallied a 2.76 ERA, appeared in 125 contests, tossed 542.2 innings, and struck out 346 people. Like Itri, she was also awarded the ECC Award and was also a nominee for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
Starting her career at a Big 4 accounting firm as an Audit Associate, Turato earned her CPA license and transitioned into the healthcare industry. She currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst at NYU Langone Health Long Island and is responsible for generating budgets and analyzing spending for a number of departments in the hospital system.
