The Molloy Athletic Department is announcing a number of staffing changes ahead of the 2025-26 academic year.
Effective August 4, 2025,
Michael Grasso will assume the role of Interim Director of Athletics.
A former Molloy student-athlete himself, Grasso has spent 18 years as a member of the Athletic Department in a number of roles. Most recently, he has focused on the academic success of student-athletes, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations, and the management of scholarship budgets across Molloy's teams. Grasso has spent time on a number of internal committees at Molloy including the Coordinated Community Response Team while also serving as the school's Title IX Deputy. In his years at Molloy, Grasso has been the direct supervisor for a number of the department's programs and has chaired the East Coast Conference's baseball committee for over a decade.
Also, effective August 4,
Dayna Russo will assume the Head Softball Coach position.
Russo has been a member of the softball coaching staff for over a decade after a standout playing career with the Lions. Molloy has appeared in nine East Coast Conference Tournaments and four NCAA East Regional Tournaments, winning the ECC Championship in 2016 and East Regional Championship in 2017. Russo has primarily focused on the development of the pitching staff in her role as an assistant.
Alex Russo will be promoted to Associate Head Coach. Russo has been with the program as an assistant for four seasons, also following a successful playing career with the Lions. Working primarily with the catchers, Russo has been a part of four-straight ECC Tournament runs, including seeing the team advance to the title game on three occasions, and one NCAA Tournament appearance.
