New Haven, CT - The volleyball team fell in three sets to the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University this evening from Pelz Gymnasium. The loss sets Molloy at 3-8 on the campaign while SCSU improves to 8-3.

How it Happened

• The Owls took an early 7-1 lead to start the contest. The Lions would respond to work the score back within three, 9-6, in a streak that included a kill from freshman Emma Kappaz, a block from freshman Peyton Douglas, and a kill and a block from senior Erin Stanley.
• Molloy would come within two on three occasions before blocks from Douglas and Kappaz made it a one point game, 18-17. 
• SCSU would close the set on an 8-1 run to take the 1-0 lead.
• The second set mirrored the first with the home team taking an early lead, 8-3, however Molloy was unable to come within three before the Owls took a 2-0 lead on the match.
• The score would be tied three times early in the third set before a 5-1 run gave SCSU an 8-4 advantage. 
• After managing to claw within two, 9-7, the Owls would score the next 13 in a row to make an insurmountable 22-7 lead before taking both the set and the match. 

Top Performances

• Junior Isabella Rios topped Molloy with six kills while Stanley, Kappaz, and freshman Kailie Girard each had four. 
• Graduate student Hayden Riddle led with both eight assists and 10 digs. 
• Douglas' two blocks led the Lions defense.
