Jayden Patel made up the five members of the Molloy baseball team that were tabbed Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Additionally, Welsh and Kiss were selected by CSC as Academic All-American finalists and will advance to the national ballot that will be announced June 23, 2026.
The Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes for combined exceptional performances both in the classroom and on the field of play. Student-athletes selection to All-District teams must have over a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, have reached at least sophomore status academically, and be a standout performer on their respective teams.
For the third straight year, Kiss collects Academic All-District honors. An All-ECC First Team and three-time All-Region Second Team selection in 2026, Kiss compiled an 8-1 record and 59 strikeouts through 79.2 innings of work this season. The left-hander went at least five innings in all 14 starts this season and was part of a staff that finished second in the country in Earned Run Average (3.72). The Hicksville native concludes his Molloy career with the second most wins in program history (23) while finishing seventh in career innings pitched (230.1).
A CSC Academic All-American in 2025, Welsh returns to the ballot in 2026 for the second time of his career. The ECC Player of the Year and three-time All-Region Second Team honoree did it all in 2026 in his final season in Rockville Centre. The first basemen led the Lions in OPS (1.230), average (.408), hits (84), runs (65), RBI (60), home runs (14), doubles, (14), and triples (6). Welsh became the programs all-time home run leader in 2026, totaling 33 big flies surpassing Molloy alum Joe Holden '05. With 84 hits this season, Welsh tied the single-season program record with alum Michael Scarinci '01.
Imhof tallies his first career Academic All-District. Imhof added an All-ECC Second Team honor for the first time in his career after becoming a mainstay in the Lions lineup in 2026. The junior collected an OPS of .954 while hitting .319 with 52 hits, 44 RBI, 41 runs, and five home runs. The Merrick native had a watchful eye at the plate this season, drawing 24 walks and reaching base 20 time via a hit by pitch. Imhof played hero in Game Two of the NCAA East Super Regional with a walk-off single to send the Lions to a winner-take-all Game Three.
In his first season sporting the cardinal and white, Sweeney earns an Academic All-District nod. The junior was one of two players to appear and start in all 54 contests this season, leading the squad with 25 stolen bases while hitting .303 alongside 63 hits, 53 runs, 36 RBI, 10 doubles, three triples, and three home runs as the full-time shortstop.
Patel rounds out the members of the Lions with his first career Academic All-District honor. An All-ECC First Team and NCBWA All-Region Second Team selection, the right-hander totaled eight saves in 2026, one shy of tying a single-season record and finishing 10
th nationally. The New Hyde Park native collected five multi-inning saves totaling 29.1 innings on the campaign while striking out 25. Through two years as a Lion, Patel has racked up 14 saves and is four saves away from breaking the program record.
