Hartford, Conn. - The cross country teams both opened up the 2025 season at the University of Hartford XC Invitational from Keney Park. The men placed 11th in a field of 15 while the women finished ninth out of 14 teams.
Senior
James Nichol led with a 5k time of 18:30.8, a personal-best and finishing in 66th place out of 139 runners. Junior
Peter Bagattine set a new personal-best time in the 5k at 18:49.9 for 76th-place.
Freshmen
MiKai Marks (19:00.3) and
John Abad (19:14.5) both debuted inside the top-100 along with senior Matthew Rathje (20:18.9).
Freshman
Jack Vahey debuted with a 5k time of 20:48.1 while fellow rookie
Christopher Diaz ran a 22:04.8.
On the women's side, freshman
Martina Mileti made her debut with a 3k time of 12:12.8, good for 23rd overall and fifth among freshmen competitors.
Sophomore
Carli Sheiffele followed in 27th out of the field of 117 with a time of 12:19.3. Senior
Alaysia Cobb followed with a time of 13:04.2 for 49th-place while freshman
Anelisa Fulgieri debuted just outside the top-50 at 13:12.3.
Sophomore
Sophia Michaels (14:19.6) and freshman
Kate Mejia (14:52.5) rounded out Molloy's runners on the afternoon.
Both teams will be in local action on Saturday (Sept. 13) at the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by St. Joseph's LI from Stony Brook, N.Y.
