Worcester, Mass. - The men's soccer team fell to the Greyhounds of Assumption University this afternoon, 1-0, from Normand Marois Field. The loss puts the Lions at an even 1-1-1 on the campaign while Assumption sits at 2-1-0.
How it Happened
- In the first nine minutes of play, both teams had a shot blocked, Cody Holbert for the Greyhounds and junior Steph Maurice for the Lions.
- Senior Matt Star would get a shot to goal less than one minute later, but goalkeeper Cathal Carney was there to make the stop.
- Carney made two more saves, one from sophomore Charlie Morgan and one from junior Aidan Kolbe, before sophomore Callum Hunt was challenged in goal for the first time for the Lions.
- Just before the horn sounded to end the half, Ryan Linhares fired a shot high of the net and the teams went into the break scoreless.
- The stalemate continued until the 82nd minute, where Sekou Kouyate was able to put the Greyhounds on the board.
- Needing an equalizer to hope to walk away with a draw, freshman Cesar Chavez took a shot less than one minute later, but was stopped by Carney.

- Kolbe, Morgan, Maurice, and junior Wilmer Flores each took two shots.
- Star, Chavez, and graduate student O'Neil Dawes each added one.
- Hunt made three saves in net.
