#14 Men's Lacrosse Falls Short At Embry-Riddle

Box Score Daytona Beach, Fla. - The #14 men's lacrosse team started off strong at Embry-Riddle this evening but was held to just one goal in the second half in a 12-9 defeat. The Lions sit at 7-2 on the campaign while the Eagles improve to 5-3.

How it Happened
  • Junior Jake Taylor kicked off the contest with a goal in the opening three minutes.
  • The Eagles tied it four minutes later, but back-to-back goals from junior Tommy Corcoron and senior Jack Herzlinger gave the Lions a two-goal cushion.
  • The home team closed out the quarter with a goal in the final two minutes to make it 3-1.
  • Herzlinger and Taylor would each find the back of the net in the opening two minutes of the second quarter to put the Lions in front, 5-2.
  • The home team would respond with a trio of goals to knot the score with six minutes to play in the opening half.
  • Molloy would respond with a run of its own as senior Bryan Diliberto, junior Justin Palulis, and sophomore Rocco Hogan each scored to give the visitors an 8-5 lead at the break.
  • The Lions were shut out in the third quarter as Embry-Riddle took the lead for the first time following a four-goal run.
  • Palulis would net his second of the contest in the fourth quarter, but Molloy was unable to mount a comeback.
Top Performances
  • Taylor, Herzlinger, and Palulis all accounted for two goals.
  • Corcoron had a goal and an assist for two points.
  • Juniors Brian Green and Thomas Kofod each added assists with Kofod adding four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
  • Junior Brandon Pazienza went 8-of-17 on face-offs while picking up five ground balls.
  • Hogan, juniors Jaden McLeod and Shawn McCabe, and freshman Zachary Maligres each had three ground balls with Maligres going 4-of-6 at the dot and McCabe adding two turnovers.
  • Michaels matched a season-high 16 saves in the effort.
