Manchester, N.H. – The Molloy men's basketball team fell to the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University, 111-82, Sunday afternoon inside Stan Spirou Fieldhouse. The Lions sit at 0-5 on the campaign while the Penmen improve to 3-1.
How it Happened
- The lead changed hands five times in the opening 7:10 of the contest before junior Bryce Merchant sank a three-point field goal to knot the contest at 18.
- Southern New Hampshire put together a 10-3 run over the next 1:42 to take control of the opening stanza, 28-21.
- Molloy was able to keep the deficit between six to eight points through the seven-minute mark of the first half trailing, 38-30, after Merchant hit another jump shot.
- The Penmen outscored the Lions 21-13 for the remainder of the first half to take a 59-43 lead into halftime.
- In the opening 2:45 of the second half the home team compiled an 11-1 run, increasing its lead, 70-44.
- The cardinal and white would cut the deficit to 21 with 11 minutes to play after sophomore Sebastian Bosquez made a layup, but that is as close as they would come as the Penmen would shoot 54 percent from the floor in the second stanza and close out the victory, 111-82.
Top Performances
- Merchant led the Lions offense netting 22 points and securing eight rebounds.
- Junior Chris Stokel netted a career-high 20 points and dished out a team-high three assists.
- Bosquez rounded out the top scorers, totaling a career-high 15 points.
