Philadelphia, Pa. – The Molloy men's basketball team fought tooth and nail with the Tigers of Holy Family Sunday afternoon, but would fall, 98-90, inside the Campus Center. The result has the Lions sitting at 0-6 while the Tigers improve to 4-1.
How it Happened
- After the teams traded baskets in the opening minutes, Holy Family generated a 12-2 run in a 1:11 span to take a 19-9 lead.
- The cardinal and white settled into a grove of its own, responding with a 13-4 run where they shot 50 percent from the floor and two-of-three from three-point range. The run saw six members of the squad record a point to come within one, 23-22, with 8:17 left in the opening stanza.
- It would take the Tigers under two minutes to go back up by eight, 30-22, but sophomore Dylan Kopp would lead a 10-4 run, netting seven points to get the Lions back within one possession, 34-32, with under four minutes to go in the first half.
- Molloy would grab a brief 38-37 lead after junior Bryce Merchant hit a jumper with under two minutes to go and would go into halftime knotted at 41 after sophomore Sebastian Bosquez drained the final bucket of the stanza.
- The two teams went stride for stride through the opening eight minutes of the second half recording 10 lead changes and seven ties, but a pull up jumper from Kopp had the Lions in front, 67-66.
- The home team answered with a mini 7-0 run to garner the first multi-point lead of the half, 73-67, with 9:30 remaining on the scoreboard.
- As they did all afternoon, the cardinal and white struck back with an 8-0 rally over the next 2:03. It was led by freshman Chase Timberlake who drained a pair of three-point field goals to reclaim the Lions lead, 75-73.
- The game of runs continued as Holy Family would punch right back with another 7-0 run to flip the momentum back its way and take a 80-75 lead with 5:21 left.
- Kopp snapped the run, draining a three to get Molloy within two, 80-78, with the Lions taking a full timeout with 5:09 remaining.
- The final five minutes of the contest came down to the foul line. Both teams would collect three field goals each, but Holy Family would seal the game at the charity stripe as they finished the contest draining 10 foul shots to close out the victory, 98-90.

- Kopp netted a career-high 23 points while shooting 58 percent from the floor.
- Merchant collected a double-double totaling 21 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
- Junior Chris Stokel collected 19 points
- Freshman Chase Timberlake added 12 points on the back of four three-point field goals.
