Hempstead, N.Y. – The Molloy men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition contest at Hofstra, dropping a 95-61 decision in a non-countable game.
How it Happened
- After Hofstra began the contest with a bucket, junior Jared Weakly connected on a three-point basket to get the Lions on the board.
- A 12-4 run from the Pride opened the lead to 10, 16-6, with 15:31 remaining in the first half.
- Junior Darius Coleman brought the deficit down to seven, 16-9, after draining a three-ball from the wing.
- The home team reclaimed its double-digit lead after notching a pair three-point baskets, 22-11, and would build its lead to 17 going into halftime with the Lions behind, 48-31.
- The cardinal and white would shrink the deficit down to 16 with 16:07 to play, but would not be able to climb back as Hofstra would go on to shoot 55 percent from the floor in the second half en route to the victory, 95-61.

- Weakly and junior Bryce Merchant tied a team-high 13 points with Weakly leading the squad with seven rebounds and five assists.
- Coleman collected 12 points and secured six rebounds.
