Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team fell to the Cougars of Caldwell, 3-2, Tuesday evening at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions move to 1-4-4 on the campaign, while the Cougars improve to 3-6-1.
How it Happened
- The Lions struck in the third minute after graduate student Danu Kinsella Bishop scored on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box.
- Molloy wouldn't record a shot until the 19th minute but would make it count. Freshman Jack Veletanga sent in a corner kick that found senior Matt Star who headed it in, increasing the home teams lead, 2-0.
- Three minutes later, Caldwell challenged sophomore goalkeeper Callum Hunt with a shot, but Hunt was there to make the save.
- Junior Diego Cadena created space to try and add to the lead, but Caldwell goalkeeper Justin Talbot made a save.
- The Cougars got on the board in the 26th minute, after Hunt came off his line Caldwell forward Hakon Rake shot it into the open net cutting the deficit to one, 2-1.
- With four seconds to go in the first half, sophomore Charlie Morgan fired a loose ball towards net but the shot would go high, sending the contest into halftime with Molloy ahead, 2-1.
- The road team looked to tie the contest 3:05 into the second half, but Hunt was there to deny the chance.
- Kinsella Bishop had a chance in 56th minute to add onto the lead, but his shot from point blank range would be saved.
- The 72nd minute saw the road team knot the contest at two after Rake snuck behind the back line of defense and found the back of the net.
- In the 75th minute, Kinsella Bishop generated another chance inside the 18-yard box but put his shot just wide of the far post.
- With 2:57 left, Caldwell forward Ingebrigt Braenden put a shot on net that was saved by Hunt, but the rebound was finished by Jorge Gutierrez putting Caldwell ahead, 3-2, where the contest would finish.

- Kinsella Bishop netted his fifth goal of the year, scoring in his last four straight games.
- Veletanga collected his first collegiate point with an assist.
- Cavallo tallied an assist while leading the team with seven shots with four coming on goal.
- In goal, Hunt made five saves.
