Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team fought tooth and nail with the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks Saturday afternoon, battling to a 3-3 draw at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions move to 1-4-5 overall and 0-1-3 in East Coast Conference play, while the Redhawks go to 7-0-5 overall and 3-0-2 in league play.
How it Happened
- The contest began as a defensive feeling out period in the opening 15 minutes as neither team was able to record a shot.
- The first shot of the game for Molloy found the back of the net. Graduate student Danu Kinsella Bishop was able to finish off a pass from junior Wilmer Flores to put Molloy ahead, 1-0, in the 20th minute.
- Roberts Wesleyan was able to get a couple of shots on the score sheet in the 29th minute. The first attempt was blocked, but the rebound was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Callum Hunt.
- Molloy was able to sustain pressure over a two-minute span from the 33rd minute through the 35th, totaling six shots, two that were saved by Roberts Wesleyan goalkeeper Eric Jewson.
- The cardinal and white would not allow another shot attempt for the remainder of the half, holding a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
- The cardinal and white struck first in the second half. Kinsella Bishop was able to beat Jewson at the far post after freshman Cesar Chavez found him, extending the Molloy lead, 2-0, in the 56th minute.
- In the 67th minute, Roberts Wesleyan was finally able to crack the scoreboard after Sebastian Guerrero squeaked a shot past Hunt to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
- 49 seconds later the road team knotted the contest at two, completing shifting momentum with 67:02 left to play.
- The 77th minute saw the contest flip back in Molloy's favor. Sophomore Eduardo da Rosa Sostisso settled down a loose ball and belted a shot that screamed across the turf into the net to regain the Lions lead, 3-2.
- The lead was short lived as the road tram answered back 59 seconds later with a tying goal, bringing the contest back to all square, 3-3.
- Molloy would run into trouble as they would be tasked with playing the final 11:33 with 10 men, following a red card.
- Roberts Wesleyan looked to take advantage and net a winner, but Hunt was up to the task, making four crucial saves keeping the contest at bay.
- The Lions would generate one final chance before time expired. Freshman Jack Veletanga sent in a free kick that found sophomore Jamal Marseille, but Marseille put his header just wide of the right post.
- The Redhawks had one last chance with four seconds on the clock, but forward Archie Murphy sent his shot high to end the contest in a 3-3 draw.

- Kinsella Bishop led the offense with two goals on the back of six shots and three on goal.
- Da Rosa Sostisso collected his first goal of the season.
- Flores tallied an assist and Chavez's assist earned him his first collegiate point.
- In goal, Hunt made five saves.
