Danu Kinsella Bishop led the way for the Molloy men's soccer team, finding the back of the net three times to earn the Lions a 3-0 victory over the Daemen Wildcats Saturday afternoon. Molloy improves to 2-5-4 on the campaign and 1-1-2 in East Coast Conference play, while the Wildcats move to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in league play.
How it Happened
- Neither team could muster a shot on goal in the opening 20 minutes of action, settling the contest into a defensive battle.
- Kinsella Bishop was able to score his first of the contest in the 24th minute after he settled down a feed from junior Wilmer Flores to get the Lions on the board, 1-0.
- The next shot Kinsella Bishop would take, found the back of the net in the 28th minute to extend the lead, 2-0.
- Molloy would hold Daemen without a shot in the opening 45 minutes, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.
- Kinsella Bishop would collect his hat trick 1:03 into the second stanza to give the Lions a commanding 3-0 advantage.
- The Wildcats looked to get on the board and begin a second half surge, generating a scoring chance in the 60th minute that sophomore goalkeeper Callum Hunt would save.
- Daemen would put together one last scoring chance in the 77th minute, but Hunt would make one last save as the Lions would close out the final 13 minutes and clinch the victory, 3-0.
Top Performances
- Kinsella Bishop's three goals brings him to 11 goals on the campaign to total 22 points. The graduate student has now scored in each of his last seven contests.
- Flores dished out his fourth assist on the season.
- In goal, Hunt made two saves to collect his fourth shutout of the season.
