Manchester, N.H. - The volleyball team opened up the 2024 campaign with a split at the Saint Anselm/SNHU Tournament. The Lions fell in three sets to #25 Lynn University before topping host Saint Anselm, 3-1, in a gritty victory from Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

How it Happened
	- The Lions struggled to keep up with the Fighting Knights' offense, totaling just 20 kills and attacking at a negative clip.
 
	- Senior Kiarra Roth led with seven kills while freshman Isabella Rios tallied five in her collegiate debut.
 
	- Senior Julia Zalta put up 15 assists in the effort while sophomore Aria Miller had 11 digs.

How it Happened
	- The Lions came out roaring in the first set, taking a 13-2 lead with three-straight aces from Miller as well as kills from Rios and senior Sara Hiebert.
 
	- Molloy kept its foot on the gas, increasing the lead to as much as 21-9 en route to the opening set victory.
 
	- The Hawks would respond by taking 14 of the first 18 points of the second set.
 
	- A 12-1 run would bring the cardinal and white back within one, 21-20, but the set would ultimately finish in favor of the home team.
 
	- Saint Anselm would lead once again to start the third set, 6-2.
 
	- The Lions would work the score back, tying the contest on seven occasions, including as late as 22-22.
 
	- The final three points would go in favor of Molloy, with two kills from junior Teresa Moulder.
 
	- Molloy held the Hawks to just six kills in the final set. Saint A's would score the first two points, but an eight-point run from the Lions would secure the victory.
 
	- Roth matched a career-high 21 kills in the victory, adding two blocks and six digs.
 
	- Rios put up a double-double with a career-high 11 kills and 13 digs to go with two aces.
 
	- Moulder tallied five kills.
 
	- Zalta also had a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs while putting up a career-high seven service aces.
 
	- Miller had 26 digs in the effort while serving up six aces.
 
	- Senior Alex Brown rounded out the defense with 11 digs.

Molloy remains in New Hampshire to take on Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire tomorrow (Sept. 7) from the Stan Spirou Field House. First serve with Franklin Pierce is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
