West Chester, Penn. - The men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2024 outdoor season at the Purple and Gold Invite, hosted by West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
The men's program saw three first-place performances:
Eric Anderson in the 400-meter hurdle (57.87),
Schnyder Germain in the 800-meter (2:13.74), and
Eric Palencia in the 5000-meter (16:07.01).
Freshman Peter Baggatine finished just behind Palencia at 16:08.95 in his outdoor debut for second-place. Other rookies included
Jurrel Hall in the 100-meter (11.75),
Darren Rhooms in the 100-meter (11.76),
Anthony Perkins in the 100-meter (13.83),
Jayson Emile in the 1500-meter (4:52.60), and
Amir Carter-Thomas in the shot put (9.65m).
On the women's side,
Alaysia Cobb led with a third-place finish in the 800-meter with a time of 2:41.71. Juliette Vega placed sixth in both the 200-meter (33.67) and 400-meter (1:13.18) in her outdoor debut.
Megan Sohl placed eighth in the 1500-meter (5:26.30) while
Faith Rousseau recorded a throw of 19.12 meters in the discus.
Molloy returns to action next weekend (Mar. 29-30) at the Ramapo College Track and Field Invite from Mahwah, N.J.
