Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's basketball team defeated Mercy University, 83-73, this afternoon from Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improved to 7-18 overall and 5-9 in East Coast Conference play. The Mavericks fell to 2-23 (1-14 ECC).
How it Happened
- The teams would exchange one possession leads for the majority of the first half, tying the score four times.Â
- Freshman Bryce Merchant and junior Mick Browne had back-to-back baskets to put the Lions in front by five, 23-18.
- The Mavericks responded with a six point run to go ahead by one.
- Baskets from junior Terence Crowley, graduate student Jalen Rosemond, and freshmen Saba Beroshvili and Manu Alford put together an 8-0 run to set the score at 31-25 with less than five minutes to play in the first half.
- Mercy would come within two in the final four minutes, but a 10-3 run from the Lions ended the half with the score at 41-32.Â
- Molloy maintained its lead for the entirety of the second half, leading by as much as 18-, 61-43.Â
- Mercy would come within six in the final minute, but the Lions hit six-straight free throws to stay in front.Â

- Merchant netted a career-high 27 points, shooting 12-of-17 from the field, to go with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.Â
- Rosemond also had a career-high day with 22 points (9-of-18) to go with nine rebounds and two blocks.Â
- Browne netted 11 points and led with three blocks and seven assists.Â
- Beroshvili dished out six assists and had two steals.Â
