Sprint Football Takes on Navy

Uniondale, N.Y. - The Molloy sprint football team returned to Mitchel Field this evening for a bout against Navy. Molloy allowed a season-low 34 points in the effort, but was ultimately shut out by the Midshipmen. Navy improved to 4-1 on the season while Molloy now sits at 0-5. 

How it Happened
  • Navy scored on its first possession of the contest with Hunter Gennicks combining for a total of 25 yards on the drive, including a six-yard touchdown.
  • The Midshipmen would score again to start the second quarter with a four-yard rushing touchdown from Broderick Freeman.
  • The visitors added two more rushing touchdowns in the third frame to lead, 27-0.
  • Molloy threatened to put points on the board late in the first quarter, putting together a 10-play, five minute drive that saw five complete passes from junior quarterback Paulie Drummond IV. 
  • The Lions chose to go for it on a fourth and 12 at the Navy 12-yard line, but came up empty.
  • The Midshipmen scored on its first possession of the fourth quarter to make it 37-0.
Top Performances
  • Drummond went 13-for-24 with 84 yards on the evening. 
  • Freshman Peter von Schoenermarck led the Lions with 52 receiving yard, catching five passes. 
  • Freshman Chaz Kitsakos had four receptions for 20 yards.
  • On the ground, freshman Anthony DiSalvo led with 21 net yards on seven rushing attempts.
  • Freshman Marquis Dixon led the defense with eight tackles, including five assisted. 
  • Freshman Alex Missing led with four solo tackles, totaling four on the effort.

Molloy heads on the road for the penultimate game of the inaugural season on Saturday (Nov. 2) at Mansfield. Kickoff from Karl Van Norman Field is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
