How it Happened
  • The teams exchanged opening points before a five-point run by Queens put the Knights ahead, 7-2, in the first set.
  • The Lions would come within three, 13-10-, but Molloy was unable to overcome the early deficit.
  • In a dramatic turn, the visitors opened the second set with a 6-1 lead including an ace and kill from freshman Isabella Rios, and one kill each from graduate student Kiarra Roth and junior Roberta Monticelli.
  • Queens would rally to knot the score at 12, but seven of the next eight points went in favor of Molloy. Rios, Roth, and freshman Franki Kelleher each added kills in the run.
  • Molloy's advantage continued through the end of the set, tying the contest at one set apiece.
  • The cardinal and white managed just three kills in a challenging third set, falling 25-9, and found themselves up against the ropes headed into the fourth set.
  • Much like the opening set, the teams exchanged opening points but a four-point rally from Queens gave the Knights an 8-4 lead.
  • A five-point run that included an ace from Monticelli and two blocks from sophomore Ariana De Jesus put Molloy ahead, 13-12.
  • The score would be tied three more times, but a four-point run put Queens in front, 19-15, a lead they would carry through for the victory.
