Rockville Centre, N.Y. - After trailing 2-0 after the first two sets, the volleyball team responded with back-to-back set victories to force a deciding set against defending East Coast Conference Champions, Daemen University. A two-point swing decided the fifth set in favor of the Wildcats, who improved to 10-4 on the season and 2-0 in league play. Molloy sits at 4-8 (1-1 ECC) with the loss.

How it Happened
- Daemen opened the game on a 5-1 run before extending the lead to as much as 21-10 before taking the one set lead.
- A 9-2 run to start the second set for the Wildcats proved to be too much for the Lions to overcome.
- Tied 9-9 in the third set, kills from graduate student Chye Davis, junior Roberta Monticelli, and sophomore Aria Miller paired with a block from Davis and senior Kiarra Roth helped Molloy to a 14-10 advantage.
- The Lions maintained the lead, closing the set on a five-point run with a kill and block from Davis, a block from Roth, and an ace from graduate student Mariana Donado Yepes.
- Both teams exchanged leads throughout the fourth set, tying the score seven times.Â
- Tied 18-18, kills from Davis and sophomore Sara Hiebert gave Molloy a two-point advantage. Later, kills from Davis and Roth increased the lead to 23-19 before hanging on to force a fifth set.
- Kills from Roth, Miller, and Donado Yepes helped the Lions to an early 6-3 advantage in the deciding set.
- Daemen tied the game up at eight. From there, the score would also be tied at nine and 10, before an attack error from Molloy and then a kill from Giselle Giraud gave the Wildcats the critical two-point lead that would lead to the victory.
Top Performances
- Roth topped the team with 14 kills and added 18 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. The senior also put up seven block assists, setting a new career-high.
- Davis matched Roth's seven blocks while adding eight kills.
- Hiebert had seven kills and four blocks.Â
- Freshman Hope Carolan led with 24 digs while adding four assist.
- Donado Yepes also had a double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs while adding a team-high three aces.Â
- Miller had 12 digs and seven kills to round out the scoring.Â
