Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The men's basketball team fell to the Mavericks of Mercy College this evening from the Neil Judge Student Athlete Center, 83-76. The loss sets the Lions at 11-16 on the season and 10-5 in East Coast Conference play headed into the final game of the regular season while Mercy is now 6-9 (3-12 ECC).
How it Happened
- The teams exchanged opening baskets until the Mavericks established a six-point lead, 17-11.
- Molloy would come within three on multiple occasions, including as late as 13:15, 17-14. That was as close as the Lions would come in the first half however, and headed into the locker room trailing by 10, 41-31.
- The cardinal and white opened the second half on an 8-2 run to come within four, 43-39.
- Back-to-back field goals from freshman Dashaun Warren and sophomore Darren Fergus brought Molloy within three, 51-48, with just over 15 minutes left in the contest.
- 14 of the next 19 points went in favor of the home team, however, increasing the Mavericks' lead to 62-53 with nine minutes on the clock.
- After trailing by as many as 16 points, a run of eight points from Fergus brought Molloy within 1, 76-75, with 90 seconds remaining.
- The Lions struggled at the foul line in the final minute of play and were unable to close the gap, falling 83-76.
Top Performances
- Fergus led the way for Molloy with a double-double of 33 points and 12 rebounds while also leading the squad with five assists and three steals.
- Senior William Muller tallied 12 points to go with seven rebounds.
- Sophomore Kenny Lazo netted 11 points and three assists.
- Redshirt junior Kendell Ogilvie added 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals in the effort.
