Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Led by five scorers in double digits, the men's basketball team topped the College of Staten Island, 77-57, this afternoon from Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy improved to 11-15 on the season and 10-4 in East Coast Conference play while the Dolphins fell to 8-16 (6-8 ECC).
How it Happened
- After sophomore Darren Fergus scored the first points of the contests, the road team went in front, 9-4, after four minutes of play.
- Two three-pointers from sophomore Billy Reyes helped the Lions regain the lead, 14-12, but the Dolphins immediately responded with a trey of its own.Â
- Molloy would have three-straight layups from Fergus and redshirt junior Kendell Ogilvie to lead, 20-15.Â
- CSI would come within one, but the home team would take a 31-24 advantage into the locker room for the break.
- After six minutes of play in the second half, the cardinal and white had pulled in front by as much as 13 points, 46-33.Â
- With 10:47 left to play, the visitors had cut the deficit to just five, 55-50, but sophomore Kenny Lazo went on a single-handed 8-0 run, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to go with a jump shot to re-establish Molloy's 13 point lead.
- The Lions would lead by double digits through the final seven minutes of play, earning the 77-57 victory.

- Lazo led with 20 points, including going a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line while adding seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
- Fergus had a double-double with 13 points and a team-leading 13 rebounds while also topping the team with five assists and three steals.
- Senior William Muller also tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
- Ogilvie added 11 points and seven rebounds.
- Reyes netted 14 points off the bench, including going 4-of-9 from long distance and pulling down eight boards.Â
