Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's basketball team fell to the Saints of D'Youville University, 95-68, this afternoon from Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy slips to 1-9 on the season and 0-4 in East Coast Conference play while D'Youville improves to 3-7 (2-1 ECC).
How it Happened
- After freshman Rob Matos scored the first basket of the afternoon, D'Youville quickly took a 15-7 lead,
- A layup from junior Mick Browne brought Molloy within six, but the Saints fired off 18 points to go in front 33-10 with just under nine minutes left in the first half.
- Trailing by 21 with five minutes on the clock, Molloy ended the half on a 15-4 run to come within 10, 42-32.
- The Lions would come as close as eight, but D'Youville maintained its double digit advantage for nearly the entire second half.
Top Performances
- Matos led with 27 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line while adding six rebounds and four assists.
- Junior Terence Crowley netted 13 points on a 5-of-10 shooting performance.
- Junior Matt Lane had a career-high four blocks while added seven points and six rebounds.
- Junior Mick Browne also netted seven points.
- Freshman Manu Alford had six points and led with two steals.
- Freshman Bryce Merchant talied eight points.
