Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The volleyball team kicked off the second half of East Coast Conference play with a critical five-set victory over Roberts Wesleyan University this afternoon from Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improved to 8-12 on the season and 4-3 in ECC play while Roberts Wesleyan fell to 6-11 (2-5 ECC).

How it Happened
- The contest would be tied 13 times in the first half of the first set before a 12-1 run gave the Redhawks the first set victory.
- Molloy would take five of the first seven points of the second set. Kills from senior Kiarra Roth, senior Chye Davis, and a block from junior Roberta Monticelli gave the home team an 11-6 lead.
- Roberts Wesleyan would tied the contest at 24, but a service error and a block from Davis and gradaute student Mariana Donado Yepes gave the set victory to Molloy.
- The third set started 12-6 in favor of the visitors, who would lead from open to close of the set.
- The tide shifted once again in the fourth set, with the Lions taking a 12-5 lead on two kills from sophomore Sara Hiebert, two kills from junior Rebecca Meier, and blocks from Hieber and Donado Yepes.
- RWU would come within one twice, but a second lengthy run solidified the lead for Molloy. The run included two kills and a block from Roth, a kill and two blocks from Davis, and a block from Monticelli.
- Back-to-back kills from Meier solidified the set victory for the Lions and forced a deciding set.
- Trailing 5-2 in the fifth set, the Lions earned a four-point run to go in front, 6-5.
- The teams would exchange points until the game was tied, 8-8.
- Molloy would lead 12-8 on a kill and block from Roth, a block from Davis, and a kill from Meier.
- RWU would come within two, 12-10, but a kill from Monticelli and blocks from Davis and Roth sealed the contest in favor of the home team.

- Roth topped the Loins with 16 points while adding eight digs and four blocks.
- Monticelli had a double-double with 11 kills and digs while putting up four blocks and an ace.
