Rutherford, N.J. – The Molloy men's soccer team fell to the Golden Falcons of Felician University, 3-2, Sunday evening at Tryon Field. The Lions move to 1-7-2, while the Golden Falcons improve to 5-1-1.
How it Happened
- In the seventh minute Felician had its first opportunities of the contest. The first was a shot that was saved by sophomore goalkeeper John Tackach and the follow up attempt was blocked.
- The home team continued to pressure the Lions defense, forcing Takach to make a second save in the 12th minute.
- Felician cracked the scoreboard in the 14th minute off a corner kick to go ahead, 1-0.
- The Golden Falcons did not let up on its attack, generating another scoring chance in the 22nd minute, but Takach made his third save of the half to keep the contest at 1-0.
- Following 13 minutes of defensive soccer on both sides of the pitch, the Lions made the most of its first chance of the contest, netting the tying goal off the foot of freshman Steph Maurice with the feed coming from senior Ryan Dobson.
- The home team had two chances in the final five minutes, but Takach made two huge saves to send the contest into halftime tied 1-1.
- The Golden Falcons opened the second half with a shot 52 seconds in that went wide.
- The cardinal and white won a corner kick in the 52nd minute, Dobson sent in the corner and found the head of junior Diogo Ferreira, but the attempt went high of target.
- Two minutes later, freshman Harvey Chahal found the back of the net to put Molloy in front, 2-1.
- The home team looked to respond within seconds generating another scoring opportunity. Massimo Girardi fired a shot, but Takach stood strong in goal with a save to keep the Lions ahead.
- Felician was able to knot the contest at two in the 61st minute following a goal from forward Lorenzo Ferrari.
- Following a chance at goalie for Molloy, Felician tested new into the game goalkeeper graduate goalkeeper Dennis Mejia with a shot, but Mejia made a save on Ferrari to keep the contest tied at two in the 69th minute.
- Neither team was able to generate a shot on goal until the 89th minute. Felician was able to break the tie with 1:34 to play in the contest and go on to win the game, 3-2.

- Dobson dished out two assists.
- In goal, Takach made six saves and Mejia stopped one shot.
