Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Despite a career-high 18 points from freshman
Dashaun Warren, the men's basketball team came up short against the Wildcats of Wilmington University, 73-62, from Quealy Gymnasium this evening. Molloy fell to 7-14 on the season while Wilmington improved to 10-9.
How it Happened
- After graduate student Jalen Rosemond netted the first basket of the contest, the Wildcats responded with a 16-4 run to lead by 10.
- The Lions would work the score within four, 19-15, in a stretch that saw seven points from Warren.Â
- With 7:30 left in the first half, Wilmington held a 14-point advantage, 31-17. The Lions would work the score to within five, 36-31, at the break.
- The Wildcats would score four points to open the second half, but two layups and a foul shot from Warren and one layup from sophomore Darren Fergus set the home team within one possession, 49-38, with 16:33 left in the contest.
- The Lions would remain within two as late as 12:28, but a 10-0 run with two three-point shots from the visitors regained a double-digit advantage that Molloy was unable to come back from.Â
Top Performances
- Warren's 18 points came off 7-of-10 shooting from the field and added three rebounds, one block, and one steal.
- Redshirt junior Kendell Ogilvie had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while adding a team-high four steals.Â
- Fergus also tallied four steals and chipped in 10 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
- Senior William Muller led with 12 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks while adding two steals.Â
