Buffalo, N.Y. - The volleyball team opened up East Coast Conference play with a 3-0 victory over D'Youville this afternoon at College Center Gym. Molloy improved to 7-6 on the season (1-0 ECC) while D'Youville fell to 4-13 (0-2 ECC).

- Two kills from freshman Lucy Vazquez and one from sophomore Alex Brown helped the Lions to an early 3-1 lead.
- The visitors extended the lead to 10-6 following kills from senior Kathleen Doherty, sophomore Julita Zalta, and an ace from freshman Aria Miller before D'Youville strung together the next six points to go ahead, 12-10.
- The Lions responded with a seven-point run, including three kills and a block from freshman Kaitlin Jordan, to regain the 17-12 advantage.
- The Saints would come within three, 18-15, but the first set would ultimately go in favor of the Lions.
- D'Youville would lead 5-2 to start the second set, but an 11-1 run that featured back-to-back aces from junior Brianna Medina put Molloy in front, 13-6.
- The Lions cruised to a 25-13 set victory, ending the contest with four straight kills from Vazquez, Brown, Doherty, and junior Colleen Moulder.
- The Molloy offense continued firing to start the third set ahead, 4-1. The Saint rallied to knot the score, 6-6.
- The score would be tied seven more times until a five-point run gave the Lions a 20-18 lead.
- Kills from Doherty and Zalta in the final five points sealed the victory in favor of Molloy.
Top Performances
- Vazquez (12), Moulder (11), and Doherty (11) each tallied double-digit kills for the Lions. The trio all attacked over .300, led by a .429 percentage from Moulder.
- Doherty added 14 digs for the double-double to go with two assists and two service aces.
- Medina topped the squad with three aces while adding eight digs and two assists.
- Zalta recorded 32 assists while adding six digs and two aces.
- Miller also tallied eight digs.
- Brown and Jordan each put up two blocks and combined for nine digs and six kills.Â
