New Haven, Conn. - The volleyball team returned in action in its first contests away from Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy defeated the host Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, 3-0, before falling in three sets to the Eagles of Post University. The Lions sit at an even 3-3 on the campaign.

How it Happened
- The Lions jumped ahead 5-0 to begin the contest including kills from freshman Kiarra Roth and junior Chye Davis, a block from Davis and senior Kathleen Doherty, and an ace from freshman Maya Akana.Â
- The home team came within one, 7-6, but back-to-back kills from freshman Kaitlin Jordan helped secure a four-point lead.
- Molloy continued to remain in front before six-straight points, featuring kills from Doherty, Roth, and Jordan, an ace from Doherty, and a block from sophomore Arianna Drudi, sealed the set, 25-14.Â
- Aces from freshmen Canyen Rodriguez, Aria Miller, and Julia Zalta helped the Lions to a 12-5 lead to start the second set.Â
- The Owls would come within four, 15-11, before the second set was decided in favor of Molloy.
- SCSUÂ led the first half of the third set, including as late as 14-12.Â
- Kills from Drudi and freshman Lucy Vazquez helped regain the 15-14 lead in favor of the Lions.
- The home team knotted the score, 16-16, before four-straight points put Molloy in front, 20-16.Â
- Roth fired off three kills to help seal the contest.
Top Performances
- Roth attacked at a .750 clip, recording 16 kills.
- Rodriguez (14) and Zalta (13) each reached double digit assists while Akana had 12 digs.Â
- Doherty topped the team with three aces while adding seven digs, five assists, and four kills.Â
- Jordan and Vazquez each tallied two blocks.Â

How it Happened
- The Eagles took an 18-9 lead in the first set. The Lions would come within four, 19-15, on the back of kills from Roth, Davis, and Doherty and a block from Vazquez and Davis.Â
- Â Post took six of the next seven points to take the one-set lead.
- The Eagles led open to close in the second set. Down 24-13, Molloy scored the next five points to come within six, but were unable to bridge the gap.
- The Lions could come within four twice late in the third set, 16-12 and 20-16, but were unable to over come the Eagles.

- Roth recorded six kills to go with four digs, one ace, and one block.Â
- Miller added 13 digs, three assists, and one ace.Â
- Zalta tallied 12 assists and eight digs to go with two kills.Â
- Vazquez and Davis each put up two blocks.Â
