Orangeburg, N.Y. - The volleyball team topped the Chargers of Dominican University, 3-1, this afternoon from the Hennessy Center. This was the first meeting between the two teams since the 2017 season, a contest which also went in favor of the Lions, 3-0. Molloy improved to 4-3 on the season with the victory while the loss dropped Dominican to 1-4.

How it Happened
- Two aces from freshman Canyen Rodriguez led Molloy to a 4-1 lead. An ace from freshman Maya Akana and three kills from freshman Lucy Vazquez helped the lead increase to 10-3.
- The Chargers would come within five, 11-6, but the Lions took six of the next seven points to lead by 10, 17-7.Â
- Molloy led the remainder of the set, sealing the 1-0 lead on the contest after two kills from junior Chye Davis, who also paired with sophomore Arianna Drudi for a block.
- The home team took an early 6-2 lead, but back-to-back aces from freshman Julia Zalta in a five-point run for Molloy regained the 9-7 lead in favor of the Lions.
- The set would be tied seven times, including as late as 23-23, before the Chargers scored the final two points of the set to knot the contest.
- The teams would exchange points throughout the first half of the third set until the cardinal and white were able to put together a five-point run to lead, 18-9.Â
- The set ended on a six-point run that featured two kills from Davis and one a piece from Zalta and freshman Kiarra Roth.
- Two aces and a kill from senior Kathleen Doherty helped Molloy to a 13-5 lead in the fourth set.Â
- Dominican would come within five points multiple times, but were unable to overcome the deficit before Roth notched the final point of the contest, sealing the victory for Molloy.
Top Performances
- Roth tallied 15 kills in the effort. She was joined in double digits by Vazquez and Davis, who each chipped in 11.Â
- Freshman Kaitlin Jordan led the squad with five blocks to go with seven kills and three digs. Drudi tallied four blocks while Davis added three.
- Rodriguez led with 27 assists and four aces while Zalta had 21 assists and two aces.Â
- Doherty recorded nine kills, nine digs, three aces, and two assits while freshman Aria Miller led the cardinal and white with 25 digs.Â
