Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Freshman Kierra Roth combined for 25 kills in the second tri-match of the opening weekend for the volleyball team. The Lions fell to the University of Charleston in three sets before sweeping the University of New Haven, setting the Lions at 2-2 on the campaign.

How it Happened
- Charleston led from the opening serve of the first set. Molloy would come as close as two, 21-19, before the visitors took the final four points of the set.
- Two kills from senior Kathleen Doherty and one from junior Chye Davis gave the Lions a 6-5 lead in the second set.Â
- The Golden Eagles took the next three points to reclaim the lead and would not allow Molloy to catch them.
- The cardinal and white took a 5-2 lead early in the third set. The visitors tallied seven-straight points to lead, 10-6.
- The Lions remained within striking distance before kills from Roth and freshman Kaitlin Jordan helped the squad to a 14-13 lead.Â
- A string of six points gave the visitors a 19-14 advantage. Molloy would come within three, 20-17, before Charleston sealed both the set and the match.

- Roth notched a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs to go with two blocks.
- Freshman Canyen Rodriguez added 25 assists and eight digs.

How it Happened
- The Lions opened the match with four-straight points, half of which coming off the serving of Rodriguez.
- The home team would remain in front the entire set, including a nine-point run that featured two aces from Miller as well as two kids and a block from freshman Lucy Vasquez.Â
- Miller ended the first set with back-to-back aces.
- The score would be tied five times in the early parts of the second set until Molloy fired off five unanswered points to lead, 11-7. New Haven would come within three, but the set was sealed with back-to-back kills from Davis and Roth.
- The teams would exchange small runs throughout the third and final set until the Lions jumped in front, 24-21.
- The Chargers scored the contest's next four points to set the score at 25-24, but kills from Roth and Vasquez paired with an ace from Miller closed the contest out in favor of Molloy.

- Roth led with 11 kills while Davis added 10 and three blocks.
- Vasquez also put up three blocks while recording eight kills.Â
