Dobson’s PK Carries Men’s Soccer to Draw at Bentley

Waltham, Mass. – Junior Ryan Dobson netted a penalty kick with 15 seconds remaining to pull Molloy to a 1-1 draw with Bentley in Thursday afternoon's season-opener. As a result, both teams move to 0-0-1 on the season.
 
How it Happened
  • Bentley, which outshot Molloy 6-2 in the first half, took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Gabriel Najim in the 16th minute.
  • The Lions had an opportunity to even the contest in the 39th minute. But a try from sophomore Gio Fabiano was denied. The game went to halftime with the home team holding a, 1-0, advantage.
  • As the second half began, graduate student Matthais Adamek was denied a chance in the 60th minute.
  • The Lions attack continued the pressure when sophomore Connor Gervasi sent a shot towards the net, but again, was denied by Bentley goalkeeper Eduardo Bomfim.
  • Adamek added his second opportunity to bring the game even in the 73rd minute, but the Falcons goalkeeper continued to keep Molloy off the scoreboard.
  • With 15 seconds remaining in the contest, Molloy drew a penalty and sent Dobson to the penalty dot. Dobson buried the game-tying goal to bring Molloy to a, 1-1, draw.

  • Dobson collected his first career goal as a Molloy Lion.
  • Graduate student Nick Conklu made three saves.

The Lions will travel to Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to play East Stroudsburg Sunday, September 28. The match with the Warriors is set to kick-off at 6:00 p.m.
