West Babylon, N.Y. - The Molloy University athletic department is the recipient of the 2022 ECC Community Cup, which is presented to the institution that tallies the greatest number of community service and community engagement hours per student-athlete. 

The Lions' athletic teams totaled 2,860 hours of community service, good for over for nearly 7.5 hours per student-athlete.

Molloy student-athletes lent their time to such causes as the Special Olympics, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, American Heart Walk, Shootout for Soldiers, Nassau County Aviators wheelchair softball, Autism Speaks, the Appalachia Service Project, and volunteering for a crisis hotline for the Long Island Crisis Center.

The award comes with a $500 grant from the ECC to be used towards community efforts during the 2022-23 season
