East Stroudsburg, Pa. - The men's basketball team stepped out of East Coast Conference play in a bout with the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University, falling 112-80 this evening from the Koehler Fieldhouse. The Lions fell to 2-7 on the season with the loss while the win set ESU at 7-0.
How it Happened
- The teams opened the contest by trading seven three-pointers, with shots from graduate student Jalen Rosemond, freshman Jake Lynch, and sophomore Kenny Lazo keeping the Lions within one in the first three minutes.
- A run of 10 points put the home team in front, 27-13 with 13 minutes left to play in the half.
- The Warriors shot a lights-out 52.63 percent from long distance in the first half, helping them to as much as a 31-point lead, 62-31.
- Back-to-back buckets from sophomore Mick Browne paired with a triple from Lazo brought Molloy within 23 before the half ended with the score in favor of the home team, 67-39.
- The Lions would come within 24, 80-56, in the second half but were unable to overcome the deficit in the second half.
Top Performances
- Sophomore Darren Fergus led Molloy with 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
- Rosemond netted a career-high 17 points while adding four boards, one block, and one steal.
- Lazo netted 11 points to go with two steals, two assists, and two rebounds.Â
- Browne also tallied 11 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the field.Â
- Redshirt junior Kendell Ogilvie rounded out the Lions' scorers with 10 points.Â
- Lynch dished out four assists for the third-straight contest while adding five rebounds.
