Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Led by a career-high 20 points from sophomore
Billy Reyes, the men's basketball team picked up its first non-conference victory of the season, topping Holy Family University, 78-69. The Lions sit at 4-8 on the season while the Tigers dropped to 5-5.
How it Happened
- The team exchanged opening baskets, with the score being tied three times in the first six minutes.
- Reyes put Molloy in front, 18-12, by netting four three-point shots and one jumper over the span of four minutes.Â
- The Tigers would come within one with a responding triple, but a 7-2 run from the Lions that featured five points from graduate student Jalen Rosemond put the home team in front, 25-19, with seven minutes left in the opening half.
- Reyes sunk three free throws in the final 30 seconds to give Molloy its largest lead of the evening, 40-31, before the half ended with the scoreboard favoring the home team, 40-33.Â
- Holy Family opened the second half on an 11-4 run to knot the score at 44 with 14 minutes on the clock.
- With the score tied again at 51-51, the Lions strung together a 15-1 stretch to take a 13-point lead, 66-53 with just under six minutes left to play.
- The Tigers would come within nine, 78-69, before time would expire.Â

- Sophomore Darren Fergus added 15 points and led with eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
- Sophomore Kenny Lazo tallied 13 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.
- Senior William Muller had a career-high five blocks to go with nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists.Â
