Orangeburg, N.Y. - The men's basketball team fell to Dominican University this evening, 73-68, from the Hennessy Center. Molloy sits at 0-5 on the season with the loss while Dominican remains undefeated at 5-0.
How it Happened
- Dominican opened the contest on a 7-0 run through the first three minutes of play.
- Baskets from freshman Dashaun Warren and sophomores Terence Crowley, Darren Frgus, and Kenny Lazo brought Molloy within one, 9-8, with 15 minutes on the clock.
- Molloy hit the next two field goals to take its first lead of the afternoon, 12-11.
- The Chargers would score the next nine points to lead by eight, 20-12, entering the final nine minutes of the first half.
- Back-to-back three-pointers from graduate student Jalen Rosemond and redshirt junior Kendell Ogilvie tied the contest at 22 with 6:39 remaining.
- Dominican would end the half on a 17-5 run to go in front 39-27 at the break.
- The home team once again began the second half with five-straight points to increase its lead to 17.
- The Chargers maintained the advantage through the final seven minutes, leading 64-48.
- Molloy responded with an 20-6Â run of its own through the next six minutes to come within two, 70-68, with just 30 seconds left to play.
- The Lions were unable to net a basket through the final seconds while Dominican added a layup and a free throw to win the contest by five, 73-68.
Top Performances
- The cardinal and white shot 50 percent from the field in the second half to mount the comeback.
- Fergus led the Lions with 14 points while adding nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals.Â
- Lazo topped the contest with six assists while adding 12 points.Â
- Ogilvie also netted 12 points. Warren rounded out Molloy's top scorers with 10 points while putting up the team's only block.
- Senior William Muller led under the glass with 10 rebounds while adding nine points.
