Muller Posts Double-Double in Men's Basketball Loss to Southern New Hampshire

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's basketball team opened the home portion of the 2022-23 schedule this evening against Southern New Hampshire University, falling 81-69. Molloy fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss while the Penmen improved to 1-1. 

How it Happened
  • Tied 4-4 in the first four minutes of the contest, the Lions went on a six-point run to lead, 10-4 with three points from both senior Wiliam Muller and sophomore Mick Browne
  • The Penmen tied the contests before a 13-point run put the visitors in front, 26-13, with eight minutes left in the half. 
  • Molloy responded with a dominant 21-2 run of its own to lead, 33-28 in the final minute. 
  • SNHU would net two free throws to end the half down three, 33-30.
  • The visitors scored the first 12 points of the second half to lead, 42-33. 
  • Molloy would come within five, but the Penmen eventually jumped out to a lead of 18 points, 59-41, with 10:30 left in the contest.
  • The cardinal and white would work the score to within seven, 73-66, but the deficit was too great to overcome thanks to an 8-of-16 three-point field goal performance from SNHU.
Top Performances
  • Freshman Dashaun Warren set a career-high 16 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in the effort, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 4-for-4 from the foul line.
  • Sophomores Darren Fergus and Kenny Lazo each netted 14 points with Fergus adding seven rebounds, a team-leading six assists, and two blocks. 
  • Senior William Muller put up 11 points and 11 rebounds to go with three blocks and five assists for his first double-double of the campaign. 
  • Redshirt junior Kendell Ogilvie nabbed two steals.
