Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The volleyball team ended the non-conference portion of its schedule with a three-set sweep of Southern Connecticut State University this afternoon from Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy improved to 13-10 on the season while SCSU fell to 15-13 with the loss.
Before the game, the volleyball program recognized the two members of the Class of 2023,
Brianna Medina and
Kathleen Doherty, in a senior day ceremony. The pair were both part of the program's first-ever NCAA East Regional Championship in 2019.

How it Happened
- Three of Doherty's eventual 16 kills came as part of a 7-1 run to open the contest.
- Juniors Colleen Moulder and Kiarra Roth combined for six kills to give Molloy a 13-2 lead.
- SCSU would come within eight, 13-5, but that would be as close as they would come before the Lions took the first set, 25-13.
- The Owls maintained a small lead to start the first set, but the score would be tied on 12 occasions through the first 26 points scored.
- A five-point run from Molloy that featured two kills from Doherty, one from Roth, and an ace from Media put the home team in front, 18-13.
- SCSU would come within three, 18-15, but fell 25-20 to end the set.
- The third set belonged exclusively to the Lions, who attacked at a .320 percentage, committing just two errors, while limiting SCSU to only six kills.
- The scoring cracked open on a six-point run that included another ace from Medina and kill from Doherty as well as a kill from freshman Kaitlin Jordan, who added two blocks with sophomore Julia Zalta to set the score at 19-7.
- Molloy would allow just two additional points from the Owls before taking the third set by a commanding score of 25-9.
Top Performances
- Doherty led the offense with 16 kills, committing just one error for a .500 attack percentage on the afternoon. She added 12 digs for a double-double to go with five assists and one ace.
- Roth also finished in double figures with 11 kills while adding three digs and two blocks.
- Jordan put up a team-leading four blocks and four aces to go with two kills and two digs.
- Zalta tallied 31 assists to go with four kills, three aces, three blocks, and six digs.
- Freshman Aria Miller led the defense with 13 digs.
- Senior Alexa Rescigno put up a career-high seven digs while Medina added six to go with her two aces.
