Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The volleyball team dropped a difficult five-set contest to the Mavericks of Mercy College this evening from Victory Gymnasium. The Lions sit at 12-10 on the season and 4-4 in East Coast Conference play after the loss while Mercy improved to 12-4 (5-2 ECC) with the win.

How it Happened
- Despite trailing 6-2 in the first set, the Lions would come back to tie the contest, 9-9.
- Eight of the next 10 points would go in favor of the visitors, including two kills from junior Kiarra Roth, to give the Lions a 17-11 lead.
- Molloy would remain in front the remainder of the set to take the 1-0 lead on the contest.
- The second set belonged to the cardinal and white, attacking at a .440 clip and committing just three attacking errors.
- The tide shifted in the third set, with Mercy jumping out to a 16-8 lead that Molloy was unable to overcome, forcing a fourth set.Â
- The Mavericks led, 14-8, in the fourth set before Molloy would work the score within one, 20-19. That was as close as the Lions would be able to come, however, and the game was sent to a deciding set.
- The score was tied six times in an evenly matched fifth set before Mercy took a 14-11 lead.Â
- Errors by the Mavericks brought Molloy within one, 14-13, but the Lions were unable to clinch the contest, falling 15-13.
Top Performances
- Roth and junior Colleen Moulder each tallied 16 kills for Molloy.
- Junior Kathleen Doherty had a double-double with 11 kills to go with 16 digs while adding three assists.
- Freshman Canyen Rodriguez had a career-high 51 assists to go with seven digs, one kill, one ace, and one block.
- Freshman Aria Miller tallied 22 digs and two aces.
- Freshman Kaitlin Jordan recorded four blocks and eight kills in the effort.
