Volleyball Tops Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The volleyball team picked up its 10th win of the 2022 campaign this evening, besting Pace University, 3-1, from the Goldstein Fitness Center. Molloy improved to10-8 while Pace fell to 3-15.

How it Happened
  • The teams would go back-and-forth through much of the first set until Molloy pulled in front, 20-14, after four-straight points. In the run, junior Kathleen Doherty picked up one kill while junior Colleen Moulder tallied a kill and two blocks. 
  • Kills from Moulder and  junior Kiarra Roth down the stretch helped the Lions secure the 25-20 set victory. 
  • The visitors strung together a five-point run midway through the second set to take a 16-9 lead, including an ace from freshman Aria Miller and kills from Moulder and freshman Kaitlin Jordan.
  • Freshman Maya Akana tallied three kills through Molloy's final nine points of the second set to help the Lions lead the match, 2-0.
  • After the third set was tied, 14-14, the Setters rallied to take 12 of the final 16 points to set the match at 2-1.
  • Another ace from Miller paired with a block from Jordan and fellow freshman Lucy Vazquez helped Molloy to an 8-3 lead in the fourth set.
  • The Lions would maintain its lead throughout the set to walk away with the victory.
Top Performances
  • Roth led the offense with 13 kills while also adding four digs. 
  • Doherty just missed a double-double with 13 digs and nine kills.
  • Moulder put up five blocks also tallying nine kills.
  • Vazquez added four blocks and five kills.
  • Freshman Canyen Rodriguez recorded 44 assists to go with three digs, two kills and one block.
  • Miller served up four aces to go with eight digs.
  • Freshman Alex Brown tallied 11 digs while Akana (5) and Jordan (6) rounded out the scoring for Molloy.

Molloy will begin a stretch of three games in three days from Quealy Gymnasium on Friday (Oct. 21) against Holy Family University at 7:00 p.m.
