Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team fell to the Caldwell Cougars, 2-1, in overtime Wednesday evening at John A. Darcy Field.  The Lions moved to 1-1-1, while the Cougars improved to 2-1.

How it Happened

• The Lions jumped ahead 1-0 in the 15^th minute. Freshman Matt Laya-Vetell headed in a cross from graduate student Genarro Vilardi.
• The Cougars tied the score in the 22^nd minute.
• The match was even, 1-1, at the half.
• Molloy outshot Caldwell 14-2 in the second half.
• In the 51^st minute, senior Kenneth Garcia had a shot stopped by Caldwell keeper Dylan Valencia.
• Garcia hit the crossbar in the 82^nd minute.
• Freshman Gio Fabiano broke into the box, but his touch was denied in the 87^th minute.
• The match was scoreless after 90 minutes of play.
• Brendan Barbosa scored the winner for the visitors in the 99^th minute.

Top Performances

• Laya-Vetell netted his first collegiate goal.
• Vilardi recorded his first assist with the maroon and white.
• Garcia and graduate student Peter Meyer led the team with four shots.
• Graduate student Nick Conklu made seven saves.
