Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Molloy volleyball team fell to the Mavericks of Mercy College, 3-1, this evening from Victory Hall Gymnasium. The Lions fell to 6-8 on the season (1-2 East Coast Conference) while Mercy improved to 6-7 (2-0 ECC).

How it Happened
- Molloy took an early 3-0 lead with kills from graduate student Kassie Akouri Tejedor and junior Kathleen Doherty.Â
- Mercy tied the score with the next three points. The contest would then be tied seven additional times, including as late as 15-15.
- The Mavericks took advantage of a service ace and two Molloy errors to take a three-point lead that the Lions were unable to overcome in the first set.
- The home team maintained a two-point advantage through most of the second set. The maroon and white took an 18-16 lead on behalf of a kill from senior Graciela Cruz and a service ace from senior Nicole Wagner.Â
- The Lions also rallied to score the final seven-straight points to win the second set, with Cruz tallying three kills.Â
- Mercy took advantage of a 5-0 lead to start the third set, leading open to close to go in front, 2-1.
- The nail in Molloy's coffin came in the form of an insurmountable seven point run from the home team, including four errors by the maroon and white, in the fourth set that the Lions were unable to overcome.
Top Performances
- Cruz put down 17 kills to lead the Lions. Doherty joined her in double digits with 10 while adding three assists, three service aces, and 14 digs.
- Wagner led with 24 digs while adding three assists of her own.
- Akouri Tejedor recorded 33 assists, 13 digs, seven kills, and one ace in the effort.
- Graduate student Emily Meyer and freshman Alex Brown each tallied 10 digs.
- Sophomore Colleen Moulder put up two blocks.Â
