Philadelphia, Pa. - The volleyball team topped East Stroudsburg University in a five-set thriller at a tri-match hosted by Holy Family University this afternoon from Campus Center. The Lions then lost to the host Tigers, 3-0. Molloy sits at 3-6 on the campaign with the split.

How it Happened
- The maroon and white attacked at a team-best .270 in the a tightly contested first set, lead by five kills from junior Kathleen Doherty.
- In a marathon second set, the score was tied 18 times.
- After both teams reached 26 points, the Warriors and the Lions alternated points consecutively until East Stroudsburg was first to string together two unanswered points to take the set victory and knot the contest, 1-1.
- The maroon and white opened up the third set to a 12-6 lead, including a string of six unanswered points.
- Molloy maintained its advantage the remainder of the set.
- The Lions scored the first five points of the fourth set, continuing their streak of playing from ahead.
- ESU put together a streak of six points to take an 11-8 lead. Molloy was unable to come closer than three points the remainder of the set, forcing a fifth and deciding set.
- Two kills from freshman Alex Brown helped the Lions to a 5-1 lead before later ESU had another five-point run, taking a 10-8 lead late in the set.
- The maroon and white responded with a run of seven points featuring two kills from sophomore Colleen Moulder to win the set, 15-10, and take the contest.
Top Performances
- Molloy was led offensively by 17 kills from Doherty who also recorded 19 digs for a double-double as well and two blocks.
- Joining the outside hitter in double digits were Brown with 15 kills and senior Graciela Cruz with 10.
- Brown also added a career-high 17 digs, two assists, two blocks, and one ace.
- Graduate student Kassie Akouri Tejedor dished out 47 assists and led the squad with two aces while adding two blocks, nine kills, and 17 digs, just missing a triple-double.
- Molloy's defense was led by graduate student Emily Meyer with 34 digs to go with seven assists and one ace.
- Junior Nicole Wagner also topped 20 digs with 21 and added three assists and one ace.
- Moulder put up four blocks and added eight kills, attacking at a .316 clip.

How it Happened
- Tied 8-8, the host Tigers put together five-straight points to take a 13-8 lead in the first set that Molloy was unable to come back from.
- Holy Family put down 12 of the opening 15 points of the second set.
- The Lions worked the score back to within three, 20-17, including back-to-back kills from freshman Rebecca Meier.
- The home team took the next three points en route to the set victory.
- Four-straight points, including kills from Akouri Tejedor and Brown, gave Molloy an 18-14 lead in the final set before a kill and an ace from Brown increased the lead to 20-15.
- The Tigers took advantage of the Lions' miscues down the stretch, putting together a streak of nine points to lead 24-20 before taking the contest.

- Doherty led the squad again, tallying nine kills while adding six digs and two assists.
- Akouri Tejedor added seven kills, seven digs, and 29 assists.
- Sophomore Chye Davis tallied six kills and one block.
- Meyer led the team with 13 digs and added two assists.
- Brown recorded 10 digs, five kills, three assists, and one ace.
