The volleyball team designated November 10 against Mercy College as a fundraiser for the Dezy Strong Foundation, raising over $1300 in support of the organization through direct donations as well as the proceeds from raffle and ribbon sales.
The Dezy Strong Foundation was established by Matthew "Dezy" DiStefano, a friend of the volleyball community who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer and spent his remaining time inspiring others to maintain a strong and positive mindset.
"The Dezy Strong Game is a tradition that we wil always look to continue with Molloy Volleyball," explained first year head coach
Brian Smith. "Dezy was a close friend, mentor, and coach to so many in our community. We have all had someone in our lives affected by cancer. Supporting a foundation that continuously looks to provide opportunities for individuals and families affected by cancer is a no brainer. We are very proud of the support that our family, friends, and fans showed this year and we are looking forward to an even bigger turnout in 2022."
