Hempstead, N.Y. - The men's basketball team played Division I neighbor Hofstra University from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, falling 87-49. Molloy sits at 0-4 on the season. 

How it Happened

• The first points of the game were scored by the Lions as redshirt sophomore Kendell Ogilvie sunk a layup in the opening two minutes.
• A triple from Ogilvie paired with a jumper from senior Steven Torre and layup from freshman Sey Dieng gave Molloy a 9-7 lead at the first media time out. 
• The next five points went the way of the Pride, but the maroon and white tied the score four times over the course of the first 10 minutes of the game. 
• Hofstra ended the half on a 22-4 run to lead 40-22 at the break.
• The Lions scored the first points of the second half, a jumper from freshman Matt Lane, to come within 16, but that was the closest Molloy would come as the Pride shot over 54 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes of play en route to the victory.

Top Performances

• Ogilvie topped Molloy with 13 points, including sinking three from long distance, and added six rebounds. 
• Dieng recorded career-high 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added five boards and two assists.
• Junior Frankie Phelan led with seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals while adding six points.
• Freshman Darren Fergus tallied six points to go with two steals.
