Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The volleyball team fell, 3-1, in league action against the Mavericks of Mercy College. Molloy slipped to 11-13 (6-5 ECC) with the loss while the Mavericks improved to 13-13 (8-3 ECC).

How it Happened

•  The visitors led, 4-0, to start the contest. The Lions responded and eventually took a 14-12 lead after scoring four-straight points.
• Mercy reclaimed the lead, 20-17, with a streak of five points before taking the first set.
• Molloy led from open to close in the second set, helped by a run of eight out of 10 points falling in favor of the Lions.
• Despite a close start to the third set, the Mavericks pulled in front 7-2, a lead the home team would be unable to overcome.
• The visitors attacked at a .333 clip, including plating 15 kills, to take the contest.

Top Performances

• Senior Graciela Cruz led the Lions with 12 kills while adding three blocks and three digs.
• Sophomore Chye Davis added five blocks and six kills.
• Graduate student Kassie Akouri Tejedor and sophomore Colleen Moulder also each tallied six kills with Akouri Tejedor adding 31 assists and eight digs and Moulder adding three blocks.
• Sophomore Kathleen Doherty led with 14 digs while junior Nicole Wagner had 10.
