West Babylon, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference released the results of the annual Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, selected by the coaches of the league.
Molloy tallied 76 points and earned one first-place vote ranking fourth behind St. Thomas Aquinas (77), Roberts Wesleyan (83), defending champion and overwhelming favorite Daemen, who received 97 points and nine total first-place votes. Queens College (47), University of the District of Columbia (46), Mercy (40), Bridgeport (39), D'Youville (24), and College of Staten Island (21) rounded out the poll.
Head coach
Joe Pellicane returns to the sidelines for his eighth season in 2021-2022. Pellicane will have the added benefit of six returning players from the 2020-2021 campaign including reigning ECC Defensive Player of the Year and leading scorer
Gabriella Aspuru. Joining Aspuru in the frontcourt is last season's top rebounders in
Safiyyah Lee and
Morgan Staab.
2020-2021 Honorable Mention All-American Katie Titus of Daemen earned Preseason Player of the Year honors.
Molloy begins their quest on Saturday, November 13 as it takes on Chestnut Hill at the East Region Conference Challenge. The game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
