Rockville Centre, N.Y. - A career performance from senior
Colleen McCullagh led the women's basketball team to a 77-58 victory this evening over Roberts Wesleyan University from Bob Houlihan Court. The win sets Molloy at 3-9 on the season and 1-2 in East Coast Conference play while Roberts Wesleyan is now 2-5 (0-1 ECC).
How it Happened
- The Lions started off with a seven-point run to lead, 7-2 with four points from McCullagh and three from sophomore Iris Hoffman.Â
- The Redhawks responded with 10 points to go ahead 12-9 midway through the opening quarter before leading 20-15 after 10 minutes of play.
- The visitors' advantage would increase to as much as nine to start the second frame before a pair of foul shots from McCullagh and a jumper from freshman Monique Echols cut the lead to five, 30-25.Â
- McCullagh would score the Lions' final four points of the opening half, setting the score at 36-29 at the break.
- The home team would claw away at the Redhawks' lead in the opening minutes of the third quarter with an 11-2 run. Senior Rosa Rizzitelli accounted for three points while Hoffman added four to set the Lions ahead, 40-37.
- A layup from senior Sophia Yearwood paired with a three-pointer from sophomore Grace Trotta and a pair of free throws from McCullagh helped Molloy to an eight-point advantage, 53-45, headed into the final 10 minutes of game time.
- Yearwood and Rizzitelli opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back field goals to make it a double digit lead, an advantage the Lions would maintain through the rest of the contest.Â

- McCullagh tied a career-high 30 points, shooting 11-of-16 from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line while pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds for a double-double. The forward added four blocks and three assists on the performance.
- Hoffman followed with a career-high 11 points and five steals to go with seven rebounds.
- Yearwood also reached double digits with 10 points while adding seven boards and matching a career-high five assists.
- Rizzitelli led the Lions with eight assists, matching a career-high, and added two blocks and six rebounds.
- Trotta tied a career-high five points while pulling down a career-high five rebounds and adding a block.Â
- Echols netted five points in the effort while adding four rebounds.
