Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Tops Chesnut Hill, 3-1

Plymouth Meeting, Pa. - The men's soccer team bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Chestnut Hill College to improve to 8-5-1 on the campaign in the first-ever meeting between the Lions and the Griffins this evening at Victory Field.

How it Happened
  • Despite a scoreless first half of action, the maroon and white out-shot the home team, 7-6, forcing keeper Bryce Fadako to make three saves.
  • Junior Dennis Mejia stopped two shots in the first 45 minutes of action.
  • The Griffins wasted little time in the second half, scoring just 15 seconds into the frame off the foot of Andrey McIntyre.
  • Less than five minutes later, senior Kenneth Garcia forced a save from Fadako before burying the rebound into the net to knot the score.
  • Graduate student Jesse Schleeper netted his fourth goal of the season in the 59th minute to break the tie. The goal, which would become the game-winner, is the forward's third game-winning goal of the campaign.
  • Schleeper found the back of the net for the second time on the evening just 10 minutes later, increasing the lead to 3-1 in favor of the Lions.
  • The Griffins recorded just one additional shot in the second half, which was saved by Mejia, to preserve both the lead and the win.

  • Garcia added one goal, his fourth of the year.
  • Sophomores Danny Muir and Andy Blanco each picked up assists.
  • Mejia made three stops.
